Recognizing Leadership at Curtis Engine

"The greatest leaders mobilize others by coalescing people around a shared vision." --Ken Blanchard

The promotion of two Curtis Engine team leaders was announced in January 2020 at the firm’s company-wide meeting, where other significant company news was revealed: In 2019 (Curtis Engine’s 75th anniversary), the firm achieved its historic highest level of revenue and largest contract.

Contributing to these two milestone achievements were the members of the Curtis Engine business teams, who live by a shared company commitment to put the customer first. The leaders of two of these business teams were recognized with promotions:

Alan Koch

Alan has been promoted to Vice President of Sales and Engineering. Although Alan started his employment officially after college 13 years ago, he remembers spending time there learning about the business as a young teen alongside his father, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Paul Koch.

When asked why customers choose Curtis Engine as their generator set provider, Alan states:

“A benefit that differentiates us from competitors is that we are not a big, complex corporation that has to go through layers of management to get a decision for our contractors. Access to Curtis Engine’s top-level leadership is easy and direct. They are accessible and involved and engaged in every facet of this business —every day. We provide our contractors with a small business feel and have the big-business experience and ability to expertly handle large and complex projects.

Another advantage to contractors is that we have a tight focus on being the best, most knowledgeable distributor of generators and transfer switches, and MTU is a globally- recognized brand. Along with the Curtis reputation in this field, we are truly right sized and well positioned to give our contractors the best equipment and the most personalized service.”

Michele Kratz

Michele has been promoted to Vice President of Service. She began her career at Curtis Engine in 1991, and has earned the trust of customers and employees as service manager for almost 20 years.

When asked how she and her service team have “saved the day” for Curtis Engine customers, Michele says:

“We ‘save the day’ for our customers every day. Every member of the service team comes to work every morning with the objective of doing our best for each customer. We take on problems that other distributors can’t handle. During weather incidents, we personally answer our phones 24-7 and respond to emergencies. We have a team of superstars who won’t give up on a problem and will stay on the job until it is complete. Our technicians have the right skills and personality traits to be driven to go above and beyond. This differentiates us and results in service contracts and confident customers.

It makes me so proud to see how hard and smart our Curtis Engine service team works. We won’t leave a customer in the dark!”

Congratulations to Alan Koch, Michele Kratz and their business teams! They personify the Curtis Engine commitment to put the customer first by providing responsive service, skilled technicians and committed partnerships.
